Happy November Everybody!

Over a month into fall session, and Beacons is running full steam ahead.  A dozen middle schoolers are preparing for the Blizzard Cup knowledge bowl, while the younger students are busy developing their swimming, tennis, and academic skills.

As a follow up to October's Leadership Camp, 29 students went to Base Camp at Fort Snelling on the first Friday of November.  There they joined two other Beacons centers, and embarked on challenges such as creating a shelter using only a tarp, 3 PVC pipes, some string, and packing tape.  They also participated in a high ropes course and a “flying squirrel” activity which lifted kids over 40 feet in the air!  Stay tuned for photos.

As we continue with fall programming, we are seeking suggestions and support from our families and community.  If you have ideas or want to be more involved in Beacons, please call our office at 612-668-5003.  We'd love to hear from you!

Lastly, please note that due to fall break, Beacons will not be in session from Wednesday, November 22 - Friday, November 25.
