Behind the Mask

How could youth better learn to live than by at once trying the experiment of living?
~ Henry David Thoreau

At Beacons, we thrive on concepts such as active learning and mentorship.  This week, several middle school students worked with younger students (Kindergarten- 2nd grade) to make artistic masks.  It was an activity that took time, trust, saran wrap, and plaster strips.  It was a lot of fun, and the older students displayed great signs of leadership!  As you can see from the photos, everyone had fun.

Preparing the masks

Hey, we're not mummys.  We're Beacons!

Time to clean up!

Stay tuned for more photos as these masks evolve into colorful works of art!
